Rotary Special Needs Day returns August 12. Joliet Rotarians are invited to help create a joyful, inclusive experience—just a few volunteer hours can make a meaningful impact.

Every year, Rotary Special Needs Day brings something truly special to our community—a day where individuals with special needs and their families can simply enjoy being together in a welcoming, joyful environment designed just for them.

Behind every smile, every laugh, and every moment of connection is a team of dedicated volunteers.

This year, the Rotary Club of Joliet is once again partnering with the Channahon‑Minooka and Morris Rotary Clubs to host this incredible event on Wednesday, August 12 at the Channahon Three Rivers Festival. And we need your help to make it happen.

Why Volunteer?

For many families, Rotary Special Needs Day is more than an event—it’s a rare opportunity to enjoy a day without barriers. From accessible rides and engaging activities to a complimentary lunch and sensory-friendly spaces, every detail is designed with care and inclusion in mind.

As a volunteer, you play a direct role in creating that experience.

Whether you’re helping serve lunch, greeting families, or assisting participants, your time and presence make a meaningful difference. It’s a chance to connect, give back, and see firsthand the impact of Rotary in action.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are currently seeking Joliet Rotarians to assist with lunch service:

  • Time Commitment: 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Role: Help serve lunch and support participants during the busiest time of the day
  • Location: Central Park, Channahon

This short shift offers a powerful way to serve—and still leaves time to enjoy the event.

How to Sign Up

If you’re able to help, please contact Mike Ritoff via email or at (815) 671-0550Please include your name and cell number so you can be added to the volunteer list. Additional details will be shared as the event approaches.

A Small Commitment. A Big Impact.

Rotary Special Needs Day is one of the clearest examples of Service Above Self in action. It’s a day when our club comes together not just to host an event—but to create belonging, joy, and lasting memories for families in our community.

And it simply wouldn’t happen without volunteers.

Join us. Give a few hours. Make a difference. Be the reason someone smiles.
